1. gr.
The Association is called The Icelandic Printmakers Association
2. gr.
The role of the association is:
• To be an organised interest group for members
• To encourage the progress of printmaking in Iceland
• To organise combined exhibitions for members
• To introduce international printmaking to Iceland and Icelandic printmaking abroad
3. gr.
The same admission requirements are for the following associatiosn; FÍM (Society of Icelandic Painters), The Icelandic Printmakers Association, The Icelandic Textile Association, The Icelandic Sculpture Association, The Icelandic Ceramic Association and the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists.
The applicant has to fulfill four of the follwing requirements:
1. Completed fours years of art studies at University level.
2. Have worked as an artist for two years after graduating or have a postgraduate qualification in the field.
3. Have participated in an international exhibition supported by a public body or have participated in no less than five combined exhibitions
4. Held one or more private/solo exhibitions at recognised galleries or museums.
5. Have been selected by a committee to make a public art work.
6. At least one art work should be owned by a public institution or bought by a museum council or committee.
7. Have had a public grant or received the national artists salary award. 8. In addition to the above requirements one can add any information about other art activities.
The applicant should apply no later than 30 days before the annual meeting of the assoiation. The application should include the following documents; 5 pictures of one’s art work and method desciption and curriculum vitae.
The committee will make the decision if the applicant is accepted or not.
If the applicant is dissatisfied with the decision then he/she has the right to debate this at the annual meeting where the majority vote is final.
4.gr.
The managing committee includes the following positions; foreman, secretary and financial officer. They will be voted in at each annual meeting. The foreman is voted separately and can be in that position no longer than five consecutive years. Furthermore two assistants will also be voted on an annual basis.
When the foreman is absent the secretary takes a temporary control of this role.
The exhibition committee consists of three permanent people and one extra available on request. Both committees meet when necessary.
The studio committee consists of three people and one extra available on request and they are also voted at the annual meeting however for two years at a time. One committee member should be from the managing committee however it cannot be the foreman. The studio and the managing committee meet when necessary.
All committees have to write an annual report to summaries the activities.
5. gr.
The annual meeting should be held each spring before the annual meeting of the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists. The meeting has to be announced two weeks in advance of its occurrence. The meeting is only valid if at least 10 members attend. Other meetings can be arranged if the managing committee recommends it or one third of the members demand it. Other meetings have to be announced with three days notice. The foreman or someone else in the managing committee can arrange for meetings to occur if he/she thinks it is necessary however they should be no less than two a year. At each annual meeting the annual membership fee should be discussed. The financial officer will deliver the bills and other necessary documents to the association’s accountant no later than a week after the annual meeting has occurred.
6. gr.
The regulations of the association can only changed or debated at the annual meeting or at a continued meeting which the managing committee can hold if they think it is necessary. To be able to vote for changes there has to be at least 10 members at the meeting and the majority vote is final.
7. gr.
Members that have not paid the membership fee for a whole year will automatically be disbarred. If payment is forthcoming then their membership is reinstated.
8. gr.
A combined members exhibition has to be held at least once every three years. The organising of that can be flexible and decided by the managing and exhibition committee with the agreement from the association’s meeting.
