T–shirts with the logo on sale:
The association celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and on this occasion t-shirts have been produced with the association’s logo designed by Jón Engilberts (1908-1972) in 1954. Engilberts was one of the second generation of modern Icelandic artists who turned their attention from landscape to the new realist subject of the fishing villages and their people. After his return to Iceland in 1940, Engilberts became an important figure on the Icelandic art scene, as a teacher, printmaker, campaigner for artists´rights and an illustrator. Engilberts produced a number of important woodcuts and linocuts. The t-shirts are available in two types, black and white. The black t-shirts are longsleeved and the lady’s one are with a tighter fit making them look more feminine. The white ones are shortsleeved with a smaller logo.
The t-shirts are available at the gallery and will be for sale at the Nordic House in the autumn.
